Message From WSG's President

The 14th Annual Cowtown Society Of Western Music's Swing Fest will be held on May 5th, 2012, at the Holiday Hills Country Club in Mineral Wells, Texas. The following will be inducted as Living Heroes: Jimmy Fincher, TX; Johnny Johnson, TX; Wallace Reid, TX; Bobby Wynne, TX; Don Burnham, CA; Freddy Lewis, TX; Nat Fleming, TX; Billy Champion, CA; Lucy Dean Record, TX; C.B. Sutton, TX; Buddy Ferguson, TX; Norm Hamlet, CA; and Joe Settlemires, OK. Posthumous Heroes are Raymond Edwards, TX; Smiley Burnette, TN; and Tiny Moore, CA. President's Choice Award goes to Paula Jungman, TX. Promoter of the Year goes to Joye Thompson, TX. Fans of the Year are Bob & Sue Gallup, MD. Publication of the Year is the Western Swing Dancers Network, OK. Venue of the Year is the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium, NM. Rising Star of the Year is Jessica Munn, TX. Disc Jockeys of the Year are Mike Gross, CT, and Sam Upshaw, TX.

The LIVING LEGENDS Award is sponsored by the Cowtown Society of Western Music and Backforty Bunkhouse Productions. This year’s Living Legends are L. C. Agnew, TX; Johnny Gimble, TX; and Tommy Allsup, OK.

The CSWM’s traditional Friday evening Jam Session will be held at Charlie & Linda O'Bannon's Party Barn East of Mineral Wells. Western Swing & Traditional Country Music will be provided by Brady Bowen & Swing Country, Larry Lange & The Lonestar Troubdours, Shoot Low Sheriff and the CSWM Heroes Band.

The CSWM Board of Directors: Gary Beaver, President; Larry Lange, Vice President; Joyce Miller, Secretary/ Treasurer; Jerry Tatum, Member; Tom Lee, Member; and Joe Baker, Membership Director.


We would also like to welcome JEANNE YEARIAN as our new Editor for the "The Guild," WSG's newsletter. She will replace Howard Higgins who stepped down because of health and personal issues.
